The EF-5 tornado that hit eastern Iowa Sunday was the strongest to hit the state in 32 years.Bank surveillance cameras give us a rare look at that tornado, including what happens on the inside of a building when a tornado hits.
The cameras were rolling when the powerful twister slammed into the First State Bank in Parkersburg. Fortunately, the bank was closed so no one was inside. You can see the first thing that happens is the windows shatter and glass flies into the lobby. That's why its so important to get away from windows during any storm with powerful winds like tornadoes and hurricanes.
This was one of six tornadoes to hit eastern Iowa Sunday. It wiped out hundreds of homes in Parkersburg, Hazleton, Dunkerton, and New Hartford. Seven people died and dozens more were injured.
