You don't have to wait until the 31st to put your kids in a costume. The Dauphin Island Sea Lab is inviting you and your family to ‘Spooktacular the Greedy Goblins’ Global Warming’ Friday night at the Estuarium.
Freda Roberts says, “This is really a fun, educational, and safe way for children to enjoy Halloween."
Besides the sea life, games, and costume party, this event has an important message.
Dr. Richard Aronson, a marine scientist at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab says, "climate change is here, it's real, and it has important impacts for the gulf coast. The Earth is warming more than it ought to be. That extra push is because of human interference, particularly, human caused emission gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and a host of others."
You and your family will not only learn about our environment, but get some green tips!
Roberts suggest, "turn your thermostat down two degrees in the winter, or up two degrees in the summer, or buy a programmable thermostat."
Chief Meteorologists Alan Sealls climate change special will also be playing during the event. Dr. Aronson says, "Much of the inspiration for this event was Alan Sealls wonderful series about climate change which aired on wkrg last summer."
This event starts at 5 and runs through 9 on Friday night.
