Ken and Nancy Nall say trying to get homeowner's insurance since Hurricane Ivan has been a nightmare! The Nall's wrote letters to Congressman Jo Bonner and to Governor Bob Riley begging for help after Allstate dropped their insurance policy. Farmer's Insurance agreed to cover their Foley home, but for four-thousand dollars a year! The Nall's nightmare finally ended last week when they watched our special report on the insurance crisis and called the News 5 phone panel for help.
"It was such a help," says Nancy Nall. "If we didn't watch News 5 that night, we'd still be paying four-thousand dollars a year."
A News 5 phone panel expert referred the Nall's to the McCarron Insurance Group in Orange Beach, who found the Nall's an underwriter halfway around the world.
"We got them in touch with Lloyd's of London," says Kevin McCarron. "Lloyd's has stepped up the plate and is writing policies for people in South Baldwin County, south of Highway 98 who have been dropped by some of the larger companies. We were glad we could help."
The Nall's new policy is only 15-hundred dollars a year.
"Thank you so much for having that story and the phone panel," says Ken Nall. "We've slept so much better now, a big sigh of relief, thank you, WKRG."
