The Spanish Fort Police Department has asked the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office to help them investigate the brutal attack on a well-known Eastern Shore business owner. Gas station owner Bobby Wilson was assaulted and robbed early Saturday. Earlier Monday, Spanish Fort investigators combed a wooded area on Highway 31 near Wilson's Service Station for clues and evidence. Wilson's friends say police found a cash drawer, money and checks along the highway. The Baldwin County Violence Crimes Task Force was organized Monday. The task force is made up of 12 field investigators who report directly to Spanish Fort's Police Chief. Bobby Wilson is in critical condition at USA Medical Center. Wilson's friends say he underwent emergency surgery Monday morning for brain swelling.
