Standing at the intersection of Highways 84 and 69, police officers and volunteer firefighters direct traffic. The snow storm briefly shutdown major roadways today and brought a big headache to the area.“Don't really care for it,” says Coffeeville Chief of Police Clint Harrell. “It just makes a mess.” Harrell says Coffeeville residents should probably stay home. Wet and snow covered roads could lead to some tough driving conditions.
“If you hadn't got to stay on the road don't be on the highway,” says Assistant Chief of the Coffeeville Volunteer Fire Department Ricky Clanton. “I think we're supposed to have lows in the 20s and when this freezes you'll have a bunch of black ice on the roads, which is a major problem.” Not everyone’s taking it easy. Lee Shields and his friends are piled into an SUV running errands today.
“This is gorgeous weather and everything,” says Shields. “Just seeing all this white everywhere, it's great.” Shopping may be tough. The weather was so bad, one local grocery store had a sign that read “Closed Due to the Weather, Sorry.”

I really enjoyed the snow. My son is 4 years old and had a time playing in it. I’m glad he got to see the snow because alot of children have grown up in these parts not ever seeing a drop. The snow just made me realize how beautiful our land can be. Yes, it may be messy, but all good things have a little bad in it. We just have to accept the bad with the good and enjoy living life to the fullest no matter what.
