Asst. U.S. Attorney Arrested On Child Sex Charges

An Assistant U.S. Attorney based in Pensacola has been arrested on charges of enticing a minor to have sex. Investigators says 53-year-old John David R. Atchison flew from Pensacola to Detroit on Sunday with plans to have sex with a five-year-old girl. McComb County Sheriff Mark Hackel tells News 5 Atchison made contact with a detective working undercover. The detective, posing as the child’s mother, communicated via the Internet for several weeks, and arranged for a sexual encounter between Atchison and her daughter. Hackel says before the flight, Atchison bought earrings and a Dora The Explorer Doll for the five-year-old. Detectives says during the Internet communication, Atchison reportedly told the undercover officer that he has engaged in sexual activity with children on numerous occasions.
