MIAMI (AP) - Miami-Dade police say a gunman who took a managerat a Walgreen's store hostage in a botched robbery has been shot
and is undergoing surgery.
Authorities say the man tried to rob a Walgreen's store around
6:30 a.m. Saturday. He guided a store manager at gunpoint into the
parking lot, where Miami television station WPLG captured the
confrontation on video.
Police say the manager was able to break free and run away. It
was then that authorities say officers from the Miami-Dade and
Miami Shores police departments opened fire. The suspected robber
was caught around 10 a.m.
It is unclear how many officers fired at the suspected robber.
The manager was not seriously injured.
