In a couple of months, the Air Force will decide who will build their next generation of tankers. If Northrop Grumman and EADS win, the KC-30 tanker will be built at Mobile's Brookley Field. We'll update you on the status of the competition and the battle that is being fought in Washington.
Some Aerospace students are not waiting to see if the tanker will be built here. They are learning about the jobs, so if the Northrop Grumman EADS team wins, they will be ready to join the work force. EADS is the parent of Airbus, who has already put down roots in Mobile. We'll show you how the new engineering facility is growing and tell you what jobs are available.

The KC-30 tanker would replace the aging KC-135. An Alabama National Guard unit uses the KC-135 to refuel fighters for the Air Force. The tankers maybe in their forties, but they are a vital part in the War on Terror. News 5 went with them on a refueling mission and talked with the crew about their plane.

Each axis shows the relative capability of each tanker

I have just looked at the above chart. If the 767 is chosen for the required tasks, I can only believe that someone somewhere is getting a large “backhander”. There is no comparison between the two aircraft.
