The Escambia County Sheriff's Office got a call around 1:00 Saturday morning from a boy who said his mom was being held against her will. She had sent him a text message asking for help.According to the boy, his mom said she was in a pick-up truck on Quinette Road in Pace, which is in neighboring Santa Rosa County. So deputies contacted the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office who went to check it out.
Santa Rosa deputies spotted a red Ford pick-up truck and pulled it over.
The passenger said she and her boyfriend got into an argument. When she asked to be let out, he refused. She said he then pulled out a gun.
The victim's boyfriend, Phillip Bass of Pensacola, denied having a gun, but deputies found one in the truck. They arrested Bass and charged him with DUI, driving with a suspended/revoked license, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping/false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and intimidating a victim.Deputies say when they read Bass the long list of charges, her got irate and started kicking out the windows of the patrol car.
Bass is being held on a $60,000 bond.
