MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A suspended Alabama judge was ordered tojail Friday on a federal charge of possessing as many as 30 guns in
violation of a restraining order.
Clarke County Circuit Judge Stuart DuBose was jailed pending
grand jury action on the charge next week.
DuBose was arrested by federal agents Thursday at his doctor's
office in Mobile. He had just been released from a 30-day stay at a
substance abuse treatment center in Pensacola, Florida.
During a hearing, DuBose was accused of drug abuse, threats
against his wife and firing a machine gun at a survey crew near his
home in Jackson last month.
No one was injured by the shots and the survey crew did not
pursue charges.
DuBose became a circuit judge in January 2007. He faces a
separate trial next month before the Alabama Court of the Judiciary
on ethics charges.
