PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) - Tropical Storm Gustav is on its way
toward Jamaica this morning.
A day after stalling off Haiti's coast, the storm is moving on a
west-southwest track and is expected to pass very close to Jamaica.
Forecasters expect it to start slowly regaining strength, and it
could become a hurricane again by tomorrow, and a major hurricane
later this weekend. The latest update has maximum sustained winds
near 45 miles-per-hour.
So far Gustav is blamed for 23 deaths on the island of
Hispaniola.
Meanwhile residents in New Orleans are nervously watching, since
forecasters have Gustav eventually making its way into the warm
waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
They say it could make landfall anywhere between Texas and the
Florida panhandle this weekend.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) - Tropical Storm Gustav built toward
renewed hurricane force today as it drove toward Jamaica, while
many miles away, New Orleans watched it with a nervous eye.
Gustav - the cause of flooding that killed 23 in Haiti and the
Dominican Republic, was nearly stationary about 80 miles east of
Kingston, Jamaica, but it was expected to run west-southwest, very
close to Jamaica later in the day.
Maximum sustained winds were near 70 miles-per-hour and it could
become a hurricane again soon.
The storm is projected eventually to reach Category 3 force.
Forecasters say Gustav might slip between Mexico's Yucatan
Peninsula and the western tip of Cuba on Sunday, then March toward
a Tuesday collision with the U.S. Gulf Coast - anywhere from south
Texas to the Florida panhandle.

I’m not for sure bamaboy but it should start now! We already pay too much for gas!

Gas stations are already jacking up the price of gas they already have in their underground tanks.  They say it is because offshore production will shut down while Gustav passes through.
.
They bought that gas for a price and were selling it at a profit.  When does something like this turn into gouging?

I live in Grandbay and last night we had 2 stores out of gas. I spoke to one of the attendants and she said it would be atleast monday before they got gas in depending on the storm.

To me it looks like the same high pressure system off the eastern coast of Florida that pushed Gustav south and west will eventually turn it northward steering it into the gulf.  Beyond that it is a crap shoot.

Jim was on the Weather Channel last late last night. In the studio.

Anyone tracking Jim Cantore?  If he leaves Biloxi and gets a room over this way, we want to know about it!!!  grrr

It is good to see that most of the models have shifted Gustav to the west.  The GFDL model still has it coming into the Mississippi coast on Monday.  I think the GFDL was the only model that was able to do a good job tracking Fay.
.
We will see, we will see.....

I have found too that several gas stations are out of gas. If you need gas do so as soon as possible because they are saying it will be next week before they get anymore in!
