A shocking case in Mobile involving a weapon, drugs and teenagers.
Mobile Police say a 15 year old has now been charged with manslaughter in a shooting that killed a 19 year old.
They say Victor Wilson died Thursday at a local hospital.
Police say the shooting happened Monday night at a home in the 1500 block of Eslava Street.
They say they found Wilson lying on the floor in a back room of the house.
John Young with the Mobile Police Department said, "The investigation revealed that Mr. Wilson was in the room with the 15 year old juvenile resident, and the juvenile was handling the handgun when it discharged with a round, striking Mr. Wilson in the head."
Police called the shooting reckless.
They've also charged the 15 year old's mother, Annaneasia Stribling, with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Young said, "The night of the initial incident, Ms. Stribling was in the residence with Mr. Wilson and her juvenile son and knew they were smoking marijuana in the residence with her."
And that's not the end of the story.
Young adds, "The suspect's uncle, Kevin Hunter, was arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor because he supplied the marijuana and the firearm that was used in this assault."
Juvenile justice officials in Mobile say cases like this one show how important it is for young people to get the right kind of guidance.
Mobile County Juvenile Court Judge Edmond Naman said, "Very often, I have parents that are out there and, I believe truly, are encouraging their children to participate in these activities, sell drugs, because its a family business, and I'm very worried about that."
Judge Naman said he tries to fight problems such as this through programs like a special court for young people addicted to drugs, and mentoring programs to help provide role models.

The parents are teaching these children this nonsense.  Children feel grown up when someone encourages behavior including drugs and alcohol.  The child does not realize how many doors of opportunity are slammed shut on a conviction associated with these elements.  Worse a child feels they can have the things they want while indulging in this behavior.  Thier chance of being successful in life demishes while a record develops with local law enforcement.  A record that want be accepted by most businesses as a good candidate for hire.  Being stuck with low paying wages only agitates this person causing even worse behavior.  I hope we can break this cycle of ignorance before this community starts suffering in a way it has not experienced before.  Every one of us can make that difference, be a good citzen report incidence where minors are influenced by these elements.  Young people listen to adults use this influence to educate them before its to late.
