A convicted sex offender is back behind bars after some teenage boys from Bay Minette decided to take the law into their own hands.
Monday, one of them was on on the website MySpace when he received an invitation from a man called "Mike."
When the conversation turned sexual, the teens decided to invite him over and then call police.
Officers say the man turned out to be John Salter who is a registered sex offender.
Even though police arrived before anything "bad" happened, News Five asked one of the teens why they would put themselves in danger.
News Five: Did you guys not realize the danger that you put your ownselves in? He could've been carrying a gun, could've killed all of you." Teenager: It's worth it. For my little brother's protection, for anybody else's protection. It's worth it. It's nothing to think twice about you know."
Bay Minette Police Chief Michael Roland says he does not recommend anyone taking the law into their own hands.
John Salter is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and enticement.

Execpt for the fact the boys themselves say they told the guy that everyone was over the age of 18 and the boys themselves also said HE TRIED TO LEAVE but they chased after him and kept talking to him getting him to stay.

The boys did 100% of the enticment.

babygirl, from what you are saying exmilaviator pretty much had it right all along.  this dude was bigger than they expected and they couldn’t handle him, so they had to called the law.  the only thing new you are saying is that there was someone under 16 on the premises which might cause this Salter guy some problems in court especially with his prior convictions.

The case won’t be “thrown out” until the investigation is complete.  However, the fact the he is free on a relatively small bail says quite a bit about the strength of the case against him.  I mean, the night the incident happened, the DA had already stated that the enticement charge did not apply.  And btw, I never once said that the two “heroes” were “sissies”.  I said they were rednecks looking to bash what they thought was going to be a sissy gay guy showing up at their door.

StudentUWF - He is asking for punishment, but I do believe your claim could be valid, after reaserching (and all the facts have not been disclosed) it really could be a discrimination situation.

yeah the WPMI story doesn’t give much more information, except that he’s had other trouble with the law before (other than his rape conviction).  http://www.nbc15online.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=85f526f2-2344-44f8-aa18-2f23e9b1e828

If this is true out on bail and all then they must be pursuing some sort of crime..or.. will be thrown out in court

StudentUWF -Yes I re-read comments, it was a bunch of sissys wanting to beat up a gay guy, which is also assumption, point is I would like to here an update and cant seem to find one, which if you are correct in the no law being broken, then it wouldent surprise me on the update thing,

I read on wpmi.com that he is out of jail on bond and is at home.

I don’t think exmilaviator is claiming the teens were gay; in fact the opposite.  I believe he’s claiming that the straight teens lured Salter to their house in order to beat him up.  I haven’t heard any updates on this story either but would like to hear more information about it.
