Winter Weather School Closures in South Alabama and Mississippi

UPDATE (2:05 p.m.) — Due to snow flurries in Citronelle, Mobile County Public Schools is dismissing ONLY Citronelle High, Lott Middle and Calcedeaver Elementary one hour early and McDavid-Jones Elementary 30 minutes early. The buses will run their normal routes, just an hour earlier than usual.

The December 9 administration of the ACT, scheduled to be given at THEODORE HIGH SCHOOL, has been canceled due to inclement weather. The rescheduled test date will be posted at www.actstudent.org as soon as it is set. All registered examinees will receive official notification from ACT. This announcement is only for those examinees registered at THEODORE HIGH SCHOOL.

CLARKE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Here is a list of the local school districts who have canceled classes for Friday due to the cold weather.

All seven public schools in the Clarke County, as well as all eight public schools in Washington County, are on on the list of closures.

Clarke County, Alabama

  • Gillmore Elementary School
  • Grove Hill Elementary School
  • Jackson Middle School
  • Wilson Hall Middle School
  • Clarke County High School
  • Jackson High School
  • Jackson Intermediate School

Washington County, Alabama

  • Chatom Elementary School
  • McIntosh Elementary School
  • Fruitdale High School
  • Leroy High School
  • McIntosh High School
  • Millry High School
  • Washington County High School
  • Washington County Career Technical Center

The Washington County Courthouse has also announced plans to close on Friday, as well as town halls in McIntosh, Millry and Chatom.

Greene County, Mississippi

  • Greene County High School
  • Greene County Vocational-Technical School
  • Leakesville Elementary School
  • Leakesville Junior High School
  • McLain Attendance Center
  • Sand Hill Attendance Center

All athletic events in Greene County for Thursday, December 7, will continue as planned.

Conecuh County, Alabama

The Conecuh County School System has announced they will be closed tomorrow, Friday December 8.

Monroe County, Alabama

Monroe County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday December 8, 2017 due to inclement winter weather.

As of right now, public schools in Mobile and Baldwin do not plan to cancel classes.
