MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG)– Emergency Management Agencies in South Alabama, parts of Florida and Mississippi are on standby for the possibility of sleet and snow in our area Friday.
Mobile Public Works, Baldwin County, and Alabama Department of Transportation have trucks loaded with sand that are on standby in case the weather causes roads to freeze.
The different groups say right now they are in the monitoring stages and staying updated with the National Weather Service to determine when and if they should act.
A spokesperson from ALDOT says the biggest concern is the chance of black ice forming on bridges and overpasses overnight Friday into Saturday. They recommend people stay off the road until the ice melts if that happens.
