Parents grieve the loss of a child at Angel of Hope

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — Families in Northwest Florida grieved the loss of their children at the Angel of Hope Ceremony on Wednesday.

The ceremony took place at Bayview Memorial Park. Families placed flowers in the hands of the Angel of Hope to remember their children.

Robin Gatewood lost her two-month-old son Bentley two years ago today.

“It was co-parent sleeping,” Gatewood said. “He did not wake up. He suffocated with a blanket when I was lying with him.”

Gatewood says this is her first Angel of Hope Ceremony.

“I miss him a lot,” Gatewood said. “I would have liked to know what it would have been like to see him walking. Being here, and being able to meet some other parents and some other people, it helps me.”

The ceremony is December 6th every year.
