Community Remembers Victim in Prichard Shooting

PRICHARD, Ala. (WKRG) —  The Gulf Village community in Prichard is remembering 39-year-old Cindy Darrington. Prichard Police say she was shot and killed Friday night in the 200 block of N Fairport Drive.

Neighbors say Darrington was always a positive person in the community and would do anything for anyone. She was seen as a mother figure too many people in the community.

Nikita Wilkerson knew Darrington from working with her at The Light of the Village Church in Prichard.

Wilkerson said she’s still in disbelief over what happened, “She’s sweet as could be. When it came down to her she brought everybody in and made everyone feel welcome.”

Other neighbors tell us Darrington spent most of her time working at the church and helping people in need. They say she leaves behind three teenage sons.

Police arrested 27-year-old Cornelius Johnson in connection to the case. He’s facing several charges including domestic violence and murder. Johnson is currently in the Mobile County Metro Jail.

This is an ongoing investigation.
