Governor Ivey to light State Capitol Christmas Tree Friday Night

Mobile, AL (WKRG)- Friday evening Governor of Alabama Kay Ivey will light the State’s official Christmas tree.

The special ceremony will take place at 5:30 in Montgomery, AL on the front steps of the State Capitol.

According to the Sweet Home Alabama website the Christmas tree is a 35-foot Eastern red cedar grown in Bullock County that was donated by Ray Allen owner of Feather’s Properties.

The tree will have over 35,000 LED lights and 67 stars representing each of Alabama’s counties.
