BREAKING: Suspect Arrested, Charged In High Speed Crash

Baldwin County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man from Mobile for attempted murder, assault and eluding law enforcement.

A spokesperson for the Baldwin County sheriff’s office tells News 5 Frederick Ward, 32, intentionally crashed a stolen car into a deputy’s cruiser.  The crash happened Sunday afternoon during a high-speed chase on Highway 225.

A Baldwin County sheriff’s deputy was injured in the crash.  He was treated at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope.  A second deputy’s vehicle was also struck during the chase, but the second deputy was not hurt.

The chase began when deputies spotted a vehicle stolen from the Belk department store parking lot.
