President Maintains ‘Nothing Happened’ When Son Met Russian Lawyer

WASHINGTON (AP) – Members of two Senate committees investigating Russia’s meddling in the presidential election say they want more from Donald Trump Jr. President Donald Trump’s son released emails earlier this week in which he appeared eager to accept information from the Russian government that could have damaged Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

The Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Iowa’s Chuck Grassley, says he will call on Trump Jr. to testify as part of the committee’s investigation.

The top Democrat on the Senate intelligence committee, Virginia’s Mark Warner, says the panel is seeking documents from the president’s son.

The president himself says “nothing happened” as a result of the June 2016 sit-down involving his son. Trump says the meeting was nothing more than standard campaign practice.
