Fatal Shooting on Basil Street, Dozens of Shell Casings Found at Scene

UPDATE (4:00 p.m.) – The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Thaddeus Rush.

UPDATE (1:30 p.m.) – A spokesperson for Mobile Police tells News Five that the victim in last night’s shooting was a 26-year-old male. His identity has not yet been released.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives are investigating a motive and are working to determine a suspect in the shooting.

ORIGINAL STORY – Mobile Police are investigating a fatal shooting Tuesday night. Authorities are investigating what appears to be two scenes. One is on Basil Street between Cherry and Harrison Streets. The second is at the Bishop State Community College Admissions parking lot.

The two scenes are about 100 yards apart.

When News Five arrived on the scene Tuesday, over 30 shell casings were found on the ground.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
