West Bound I-10 Reopens

The westbound lane of Interstate 10 that was shut down through the weekend reopened early Monday morning.  ALDOT crews worked through the weekend to patch a hole that was punched into the concrete of an interstate bridge just west of the George Wallace tunnel.

An eighteen wheeler crashed and spilled its load of 19,000-pound steel coils causing the damage.

The wreck caused major backups during Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.
