UPDATE (3:50 p.m.) – Weaver turned himself in to Citronelle police around 7 a.m. Friday after a tip was called in to police. It’s not known yet if the gun used was legally purchased and it’s not known if drugs were involved. Weaver was also charged with two counts of attempted murder in 1995. Police say he has an “extremely violent criminal history”.
UPDATE (11:30 a.m.) – The victims of the double homicide have been identified as Douglas Gordon McKinney and his wife Lisanne Watkins McKinney.
According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, both victims were shot several times by Steven Weaver, who was arrested Friday morning. Weaver’s estranged wife was living at the McKinney’s home and was present at the time of the murders.
Weaver is being questioned by the MCSO and will be booked into Mobile Metro Jail Friday afternoon.
ORIGINAL STORY – Thursday, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department responded to a homicide on Weaver Road which is off Highway 43 in Bucks.
The suspect was later identified as Steven Lavern Weaver.
Weaver reportedly shot two people who were helping Weaver’s wife, who was seeking refuge away from her husband.
Weaver did not know those two people personally.
He was apprehended this morning and taken to Citronelle Jail.
