TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – A top Florida lawmaker has filed a lawsuit against Pitbull’s production company, saying taxpayers have a right to know how much the famous rapper was paid to promote Florida tourism which included a new video for his song “Sexy Beaches.”
Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, signed a contract last year with Florida’s tourism marketing arm to promote Sunshine State destinations. He splashed it up touting Florida with a new video for his famed 2014 song.
Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran filed suit Tuesday against PDR Productions in a Tallahassee court, asking a judge to make the contract public.
Attorneys for Pitbull’s his company have previously insisted most contract details – including its total worth- are trade secrets exempt from public records law. They declined comment Tuesday on the suit.
