UPDATE (5:30 p.m. 12/13/16) – The body found Monday afternoon on Glenwood Road has been identified as Eric Wood, an 18-year-old from Georgia.

ORIGINAL STORY – According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, the man’s body was discovered Monday afternoon in Wilmer.
Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the scene near the railroad tracks on Glenwood Road, which is near Collins Creek. The body was discovered north of Moffett Road before Glenwood Farms Road.
The body was so badly decomposed that authorities are using the victim’s clothes to help identify him.
A deputy spoke with News Five on the scene Monday night. He said, “We can determine based off experience and the Department of Forensic Science, who has an investigator here, that there was not any trauma to suggest he was struck by a train. Although, the location the body was discovered, which is about 500 yards from the nearest road down the railroad track, is about 50 feet down an embankment from the side of the railroad track.”
