A Louisiana man is in Mobile Metro jail after trying to escape officers Thursday afternoon.
Jesse Laird was arrested after deputies say he bailed out of a moving car on interstate 10 and ran into the woods.
Deputies and US Marshalls searched for over an hour before a canine unit tracked him down and he was apprehended.
A large amount of drugs and over $6,000 dollars was found in a bag Laird was carrying. However, officials believe Laird ditched another bag in the woods before being caught that has not been located.
Laird’s girlfriend Nicole Flugham was also arrested. Deputies say she was driving the car.
Both Laird and Flugham were charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
