NAS Pensacola, FL- Hundreds of military personnel on board NAS Pensacola who were unable to make it home for the holiday enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings!
USO Northwest Florida put together the feast. Volunteers smoked 150 turkeys, 200 pounds of mashed potatoes, 200 pounds of stuffing and more than 100 pies!
“Thanksgiving is about gratitude and what a better way to show our gratitude for what our servicemen and women do everyday than to have them come for a couple of hours and let us feed them until they’re stuffed,” says USO N.W. Florida director Dana Cervantes.
“We love to be the home away for home for Thanksgiving,” says Cervantes. “A lot of times, the students here at NAS Pensacola are away from home for the very first time.”
This was USO Northwest Florida’s 9th year to feed the troops on Thanksgiving.
The USO is celebrating its 75th year of uplifting U.S. troops. The volunteer group has been providing support, entertainment and camaraderie to the Armed Forces since World War 2.
