USS Drum Celebration is Today

A ceremony will be held today to commemorate a special anniversary.

It was 75 years ago when the submarine USS Drum was commissioned into service in the U.S. Navy.

Less than a month later, the United States entered World War Two where USS Drum served 5 years in the Pacific.
The submarine was donated to Battleship Park in 1969. For the past several years, ship has been undergoing restoration.
Submariners and other officials will gather at the Aircraft Pavilion at Battleship Park at 11:00 this morning to commemorate the commissioning.
