Holiday Fun Along the Gulf Coast

Cities along the Gulf Coast are getting into the holiday spirit with tree lightings and Christmas celebrations. The tree in downtown Mobile and the ceiling of lights down Dauphin St. were lit Friday by Mayor Stimpson and Santa Claus.

If you make your way across the bay, you’ll notice the streets of Fairhope are lit up for the holidays. The city held its 34th annual tree lighting on Thursday night.

The beaches will soon become a winter wonderland. The City of Orange Beach will hold a tree lighting celebration Tuesday, Nov. 29 at the Wharf Marlin Circle. Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and cookies while you write letters to Santa at the celebration. The event is free to the public.

You will also be able to glide on the ice beginning today in Orange Beach and Mobile. Riverside Ice opens today at 11 a.m. at Cooper Riverside Park. This year’s rink will be even bigger than last year’s and has a larger cooling system to keep the ice from melting. The ice rink at the Wharf is also celebrating its grand opening today at 10 a.m.
