Mobile residents from sixty different countries got to teach students about their heritage. It was all part of The Mobile International Festival at Mobile’s Civic Center.
More than 15,000 students explored the different countries over the past two days. Some students came from as far as Vicksburg & Jackson, Mississippi, and Montgomery. They learned about food, music, art, and dance from the countries’ exhibits.
“When you understand food and their culture, then you understand them,” said Bobbie Bayne, Festival Executive Director. “And you can work. You can live next door to one another. You can go to school with one another. You can enjoy the wonderful things that all these cultures bring into your life.”
The festival is open Saturday from 10am to 4pm for Family Fun Day.
