The streets of downtown Mobile will be swept up in the holiday spirit Friday at the Annual Lighting of the Tree holiday celebration. The event will kick off at 5 p.m. in Bienville Square. Santa Claus will fly in from the North Pole for the holiday fun.
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” said Mayor Stimpson. “Our annual tree lighting ceremony will kick off our holiday season complete with snow, elves and ice skating. This is an important time to come together, and I encourage all of our citizens to take part in the merriment.”
There will be live music, snow, face painting and specialty vendors at the event. The Salvation Army Canteen will provide free coffee and hot chocolate. The Tree and the Ceiling of Lights down Dauphin Street will be lit at 6:10 p.m.
