GULF SHORES, AL – Tourism officials in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are reporting record retail sales and lodging revenue for the 6th consecutive year.
“We should be up, six, six and a half percent,” says Herb Malone with Gulf Shores-Orange Beach Tourism. “We’re a major, economic force for this county and of this region and of this state.”
Pleasure Island continues to be a very popular and affordable family-friendly vacation.
“We really think our destination presents one of the greatest values of any destination in the country,” says Malone.
Sports tourism is an important part of the overall tourism product. The cities have hosted more than 100 sporting events this year.
Sports tourism will have a 127 million dollar local economic impact this year.
