GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) – A water-control structure has been installed to improve wetlands that provide a winter home to more than 30,000 ducks in the Mississippi Delta. The Nature Conservancy says the new structure allows workers, for the first time, to manage the forested wetland system in Mathews Brake National Wildlife Refuge. The group says wetland and waterfowl habitat in the refuge had previously decreased by 55 percent because of low water.
