JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Four Mississippi groups will share nearly $1 million to expand state-funded prekindergarten classes. The state Board of Education approved the grants Thursday to partnerships in Canton, Greenwood, Grenada and Starkville. Each group will get $247,000 a year for three years, starting free classes for 115 four-year-olds apiece in the fall. Since 2013, Mississippi had been spending $3 million a year for 1,700 preschool slots run by 10 partnerships.
