Phil Georgeff called more horse races than any other track announcer ever, according to Guinness World Book of Records.
Georgeff died Monday, Nov. 7 in Fairhope at the age of 85. He retired from the racing business in Chicago and moved to Fairhope 23 years ago.
“He was the voice of racing in Chicago, he was one of the greats,” said a spokesman for Arlington Park in Chicago Tribune.
Phil Georgeff did an interview with WKRG’s Randy Patrick back in 2007 when thoroughbred John Henry died.
