Weekend Fun Along The Gulf Coast

If you’re looking for somewhere to spend your weekend, just head to downtown Mobile. The Senior Bowl Charity Run will kick off this (Saturday) morning with a 5K at 8 a.m. followed by a 10K at 8:15 a.m. and a one-mile fun run at 10:00 a.m. All proceeds from the event will go to youth-related charities along the Gulf Coast.

After the run head over to Cathedral Square to pick up some fresh produce at the “Fall Market on the Square”. There will be live music and all kinds of vegetables and fruits from 7:30 a.m. until Noon. You can also find homemade items such as soaps, candles, and pottery. The market will be in the square for the next two Saturdays of November.

If you travel across the bay, you can honor our nation’s veterans. The annual Fairhope Veteran’s Day Parade starts at 10 a.m. in downtown Fairhope.

Finish your day by cracking some nuts at the Pecan Festival. The carnival style event will feature all the pecans you can eat along with rides, crafts, and a petting zoo. The festival will be held at the Tillman’s Corner Community Center located at 5055 Carol Plantation Rd. It opens today at 9:00 a.m. and on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
