Prichard Police Officers recovering, family raising money

Prichard Police Officers Samuel Castleberry and Redd Roberson were in a crash a week ago today and News 5 has learned more about the extent of their injuries.

Castleberry and Roberson suffered multiple broken bones including fractures in their ankles, legs, wrists and one of them suffered a skull fracture according to family and friends who have started a YouCaring fundraiser to help the officers cover expenses.

They’re expected to miss several weeks of work.

Castleberry took to Facebook to ask for prayers for his partner.

The crash happened on highway 45 a week ago today when their patrol cruiser and a SUV collided.

ALEA is still investigating the wreck but it appears the SUV was trying to make a turn that caused the collision.
