The Mobile Police Department identified both murder victims from over the weekend Monday morning.
The 17-year-old shot to death outside the Exxon Gas Station on St. Stephen’s Road has been identified as Jacob Thomas. When officers arrived on the scene early Sunday morning, they found Thomas suffering from a gunshot wound. Two teenagers have been arrested in accordance with the crime. 18-year-old Christopher Logan is charged with murder and robbery first degree and 17-year-old Fabian Russell is charged with robbery first degree. The death of Thomas brings the total of teenagers killed in the City of Mobile to 12 in 2016.
About an hour earlier Sunday morning, 23-year-old Demetrius Clemons was shot to death inside his car on Farnell Drive. No arrests have been made this case and homicide detectives are still investigating a possible motive. Mobile Police said a 17-year-old was shot to death at the Exxon gas station at about 2 AM Sunday morning. His name isn’t being released. 18-year-old Christopher Logan was arrested. He’s being charged with first-degree robbery and murder and he is being charged as an adult. During a perp walk, Logan repeatedly maintained his innocence saying it was self-defense. 17-year-old Fabian Russell was also arrested in this case charged with robbery. During a perp walk, Russell told TV cameras they had arrested the wrong person.
A police spokesman also talked about the homicide on Farnell Drive. That one was reported at about 1:11 Sunday morning. Officer Terrence Perkins said police responded to that neighborhood and found a man shot to death in a car. No arrests have been reported and no names have been released.
Mobile, AL (WKRG) – Mobile Police detectives are investigating a pair of homicides overnight. The first happened in the 2600 Block of Farnell Drive. It was originally called in as a car crash but investigators discovered there was more to it. No more information is available at this time.
The second homicide happened at about 2 AM this morning. A person was found dead at an Exxon gas station on St Stephens Road near MLK Avenue. A witness said they heard around eight shots fired. Mobile Police said these are the 33rd and 34th homicides of 2016.
