A half mile of beach front is the welcome mat to Gulf Shores. Could it get any better? The city of Gulf Shores thinks so and animation reveals their vision of the new look that replaces asphalt and concrete with boardwalks, green space, walking paths, shade structures, landscaping and a beach safety building.
At the west end of the public beach area, there are already some changes. The palm trees are gone. The boardwalk is gone and that is just the beginning.
The work will be done in three phases over the next three years. A section of the plan completed during each off- season beginning after the National Shrimp Festival and ending before the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championships in May.
Site work is continuing now but starting November 7th, the 15 million dollar facelift will begin.
