Alabama Tops the List of Accidental Shootings Involving Children

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – An AP / USA TODAY Network analysis puts Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia in the top ten states for accidental shootings involving children. The organizations studied 2 ½ years of data on unintentional shootings involving kids 17 and under. A Georgia investigator calls these cases “100 percent preventable.” The study found that 94 minors in these Deep South states were wounded and 62 died in such shootings. Only one happened in a school.
