Friday, Donald Trump’s running mate Indiana Governor Mike Pence will make a last minute stop in Pensacola.  The visit has people who volunteer at the Trump Headquarters on Palafox excited, but several other people didn’t even know who Mike Pence is.

We went looking for reaction to the announcement but found out, it’s hard to have any feelings about it when you don’t know who the guy is.

The announcement came on Wednesday night.  Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Mike Pence is coming to Pensacola, a surprise to many supporters.

“Oh I got real excited!” said Cathrine Parker, who volunteers at the Trump Headquarters.  “Got real excited, called a few friends and planned on being there!”

Parker has hopes for what Pence will talk about, saying if she could she would ask him about healthcare.

“I would have to ask Mr. Pence if he could explain a little more detail about Obamacare and what changes will be made,” she said.

After we finished talking to volunteers at the headquarters, we headed down Palafox to see what people in Pensacola think about the visit.

We asked one young woman, “What do you think about Mike Pence coming tomorrow?” to which she responded, “I don’t actually know who that is…”

She wasn’t the only one who didn’t recognize the name.

“I don’t know who he is, and I’m sad to say that,” said George Brookhard.  “I should be more informed on what’s going on in politics, but I’m so disappointed in whats going on with the candidates that I’ve kind of just washed my hands of it.

One man said he didn’t know about the visit but was excited to hear about it.

“I think it’s great,” said Nick Zangari. “I just found out about it but it’ll be a great thing for Pensacola and the surrounding area.”

Nick said he supports Trump because he’s not a career politician.

“People are sick of it, they’re fed up with it,” Zangari said.  “That’s where my vote is going. My vote is to start over again and start fresh.”

The preparations for the visit continued Thursday afternoon.  It’ll be interesting to see how many people show up to hear the nominee speak.

Pence is hosting a rally at 2 PM Friday at Palafox Wharf, just over a week before early voting is set to begin in the battleground state.
