PRICHARD, AL (WKRG) — The juvenile wanted in the shooting of a student at Vigor High School on Tuesday has turned himself in.
According to Prichard Police, the juvenile — whose identity is not being released due to his status as a minor — is charged with second-degree assault in connection with the shooting. The suspect was taken into custody at his lawyer’s office shortly after 2:30pm this afternoon.
The shooting occurred near the entrance to the parking lot of Vigor High School at approximately 3:45 PM, after school hours and after most students had left the campus. No other students or faculty at the school were threatened. The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
The victim and the suspect, both juveniles, are believed to have known each other prior to the incident. However, the nature of their relationship has not been made clear. A motive for the shooting has not been established, police added.
Although he voluntarily turned himself in to authorities, the suspect did not make any comments and has refused to talk with police about the incident.
Prichard Police continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone with any information to contact detectives at (251) 452-2211.
