Road work crews will begin construction on a major project Wednesday in West Mobile that will certainly affect many drivers in the area.
On October 12, the entirety of Hitt Road will be closed for the next six months. Hitt Road runs from Cody Road to Schillinger Road in West Mobile. Crews plan to divert traffic to adjacent roads including Airport Boulevard and Grelot Road.
According to a press release from the Mobile County Commission, the primary area under construction will be on Grelot from Newbury Lane East to Newberry Lane West.
Crews will be working on numerous projects in the area including the addition of turn lane near the Manchester subdivision and the Recycling Center.
The County Commission is advising motorists, “to be cautious, allow for extra travel time and to take alternate routes.”
