Mobile, AL (WKRG)
A truck carrying dairy products ran off the Bayway early this morning. The accident happened just before dawn on the Eastbound Bayway.
One of the pictures is from ALTraffic twitter. They are reporting a four mile backup at the 33 mile marker. The truck driver is reportedly okay but the cleanup will be extensive.
Traffic is moving slowly in both directions but it could get worse before it gets better. This all started at about five this morning.
“A tractor trailer collided with two utility trucks and traveled over the Bayway Bridge into the water. The driver of the tractor trailer was the only injury. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries,” said State Trooper Kevin Cook in an email.
The driver of the Borden’s truck is expected to survive. The assistant fire chief in Spanish Fort said the driver was standing on top of the debris of his truck awaiting rescue. He was life-flighted to USA Medical Center as a precaution.
