Perdido Key is nestled along the Gulf Coast, and the permanent residential population is about 1,000.
It’s a small community with big aspirations, recently announcing million dollar condos coming to the area.
“To bring the best possible building to the Gulf Coast,” said Alison Davenport, a broker associate in Perdido Key.
The lot along Perdido Key Drive is empty now, but The Meridian is one of two properties being built on the island. The price tag for the 41 residents expected to live in the 15-story building is sure to bring exclusive clientele.
“They begin at the $1.1 million and go up to $2.2 [million] at this point in time,” Davenport said. “We’ve had great interest, and there was a whisper campaign and people were so happy that there was a high level of luxury that would come to Perdido Key.”
And although The Meridian won’t be complete for two more years, residents are still cautious.
“Perdido Key is here — we are alive and kicking, but don’t tell too many people because we don’t want to get too crowded,” said John Stenicka, a resident of the (currently) small community.
