Mobile Church Looks to Help Haiti Storm Victims

Members of South Coast Church in Mobile have had a strong relationship with Haiti since just after the 2010 earthquake that devastated the country.  Pastor John Breland says they have ties to another church there, a children’s home, a christian school and they are building a church on a mountainside.

Breland says he’s continuing efforts to get updates on people his church works with in Haiti.  He says the church and children’s home in Jacmel have been flooded.  Hurricane Matthew dumped as much as 40 inches of rain and devastated some areas with extremely high winds.

Another group from South Coast Church is set to leave in a month for Haiti.  Their original mission was to finish building the mountainside church, but Breland says their efforts will likely shift to disaster relief now.

South Coast Church is 6 years old and is located on Cody Road.
