The case of a man accused of attacking two people with a claw-hammer at a West Mobile bar now goes to a Grand Jury.
James “Jimmy” Erickson waived his right to a preliminary hearing during a court appearance Wednesday morning.
Surveillance video from Key West Lounge, the night of the attack, shows a man, believed to be Erickson, walking into the bar and repeatedly striking the bartender and a customer with a claw hammer.
The two victims were in the courtroom and said it was difficult to see Erickson for the first time since the incident.
“I was angry. I just hope he gets what’s coming for him,” said customer Denny Daniels. ” I hope the court system uses this to send a message to people on these hard drugs who try to use them as an excuse.”
The employees at Key West Lounge are hosting a benefit Sunday to help pay for victim Nancy Gipson’s medical bills.
