People paused to remember fallen service members at the National Naval Aviation Museum today.

Bells Across America is a national program designed to honor and celebrate the memory the fallen. Gold-star survivors attended the ceremony along with current military members.

Filmmaker Jill Hubb’s was the guest speaker. Hubbs — a gold-star survivor herself — lost her father in Vietnam. She recently produced the documentary “They Were Our Fathers” about his experience and others’ killed in the war.

Hubbs says it’s important to pause and honor those who have lost their lives serving their country.

“The families want to make sure that their loved ones are remembered, that they aren’t forgotten, that their service meant something,” Hubbs said. “And that the average American understands that their freedoms are because of these heroes.”

Dozens of names were called during the program.
