Vigil and Funeral Planned for Holman Officer

Tomorrow family, friends and the community will be gathering to remember a corrections officer killed in the line of duty. Corrections Officer Kenneth Bettis died two weeks after being stabbed by an inmate at Holman Prison. Thursday night a candlelight vigil is planned for Officer Bettis. That will be at 7 pm Thursday evening Veterans Memorial Park in Monroeville. That’s located at 2041 S Mt Pleasant Ave in Monroeville. They’re asking people in attendance to wear white and bring candles or lighters. The event will be held at the park rain or shine.


Funeral arrangements have been made for officer Bettis. A viewing will be all day Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Monroeville. A funeral for officer Bettis is planned for Saturday morning in Whatley Alabama. That will start at 11 Saturday morning at Mackey Branch Baptist Church number one on Highway 84 in Whatley Alabama.
