What’s Working: Local Group Rescues Louisiana Flood Dogs

A local animal rescue group has reached out to help animal shelters inundated with dogs after the flooding in Louisiana. The Animal Rescue Foundation, or ARF, has taken in 45 dogs and 18 cats, and they could receive even more. Many pets were found in the flood waters or owners were forced to give them up because they lost their homes. ARF says they immediately wanted to help.flood 2
Ali Rellinger is the President of the AFR board, and says her organization immediately offered assistance. “We have been through plenty of natural disasters, and if that storm had shifted 100 miles, ARF could have been in the same situation, and we wanted to help where we could.” Natalie Cumbaa who is the Secretary of the board says, “We are all here to work together for one cause and that’s to rescue animals.”

ARF is holding an adoption event tomorrow at PetSmart on Airport Boulevard starting at 11AM with many of the flood dogs and cats. If you would are interested in adopting one of them, stop by. You can also visit ARF’s website at http://animalrescuemobile.org/.
